Tips on Hair Straightening and Hair Care

Straight hair has been increasingly popular and there are various ways to achieve it. With the many choices available, it can often make some feel lost about what to use and how to properly care for a straightened hair. Here are some tips that will help anyone to care for their straightened tresses.

Previously straightened hair must be rinsed with a mild shampoo then applied with a strong conditioner. Proper detangling products and a wide-toothed comb are more suitable to be used on the hair that has been previously straightened. To add a bit of shine, a drop of silicone serum can be applied, this can also make the hair bouncy. To avoid further damage done to the straightened hair, keep away from using other heat-styling tools. If such tools are really necessary, use it with proper care and in moderation. As for blow-drying which also utilize heat, apply a layer of heat protective product, prior to the process to reduce further damage. It is also recommended to performs some hair-treatments to your straightened hair if blow drying is necessary on a regular basis, this helps stop the hair from dry out and have weary ends. It would also be good to use a blow-dryer with a steady air flow.

Also in relation to blow drying a straightened hair, each section of the hair must be applied with a straightening balm, then use a paddle brush for a stand out straight hair. A round brush is used for finishing to create softer curves.

It is also not a good practice to frequently straighten colored or dyed hair with a flat iron or straightener. This is because the combination of both these styling processes can greatly damage to the hair. If the hair has been recently straightened, it is better to consult with a hair-straightening expert or hairdresser how to properly care for the treated hair as to what products to be used on them to maintain its being straight, or other styling products to add brilliance, shine and body. A treatment may be advised to prevent hair from becoming brittle and stiff. A relaxed hair is known to be more porous and tends to retain some residue which makes hair dull.

If you are just planning to have your hair straightened, make sure that your tress has not been colored or dyed with a high concentration of peroxide or bleach. Also you have not swan recently in a chlorinated pool and your hair is not fine blond. Fine blond hair may be straightened but the results may cause it to become dry, damaged and frizzy.

If your hair is wavy or curly, wash the hair first using a regular shampoo to remove any impurities. After thoroughly rinsing the hair, apply a light conditioner that will not add weight to the hair and rinse again, then towel dry the hair. Before blow-drying, be sure to apply some straightening gel. Then, using a flat brush, divide the hair into section and blow dry these sections individually. If necessary, apply some more gel or cream to keep the hair straight and non-frizzy. This blown-dry hair will last up to 2 days is remained dry.
